It funny how a break up can feel like a courtship. In both cases, the mind is feeding off the constant thoughts of you. The mind is on steroids; it knows not the meaning of tired or boredom. It just keeps thinking. Everything is about you, be it work, meals, traveling, day dreaming, night dreaming. The phone is held ever so tightly as though I am trying to feel for your text even before the phone vibrates. The infatuations I have now and then, they are similar in all aspect with the exception that one will lead to bliss, the other to the pain of separation.

Even now, I still wonder if the words I muttered that night was the result of a brain malfunction, a feeble attempt of the mind to reconcile that which is rational with that which is not. Yet, the words that came out rang with unmistakable clarity, shaking the foundation we tried so hard to build. I can hear the resonance throwing me back and forth between love and liberation. What should I choose? To say that the love is dead is nothing more than a declaration of contradictions. But, choosing love over logic could mean loving with guilt.

In retrospect, I have experienced a romance beyond what I expected. In many ways, it was like a dream come true. How many people can say they found the one after knowing the person for just a few months? While some might say it is foolish to dive into a relationship based on first appearance, love is blind most of the time. I would rather be a fool than to live in regret for letting my heart’s desire slip when you are just inches away from me everyday. Fool I became, and what a happy fool I was. Tour, dance, exploration, travel, etc. These moments may very well be synonymous with the Best of 2009/2010. If I have to make the choice all over again, I will say yes without a moments hesitation.

The past few days can be summarized as time spent watching a replay of all that we have been through. While some may have inevitably been lost in my distracted mind, those that remain continue invoke extreme emotions as the reels get played one by one. The scenes with laughter can be said to be a sad reminder of that which may be lost forever. The scenes with tears? You could say they deserve an oscar for the amount of sadness and guilt they have gave to me. Yet, these memories are the resulting babies of our expressive love. There is no way I can bring myself to abandon them, not when they mean so much to me.

Just to name a couple, I can still remember vividly the day of 18^th Dec when you waited cluelessly* while rehearsing how to greet me at BWI. Who would have guessed that we assumed the most uninteresting hug after the many months I left for the US. Nonetheless, that hug left a deep impression. Another nice touch or surprise was the gift of underpants. It was absurdly delightful for something simple yet provocative. So were the calendars and and and….

Sigh…

Remember when I gave you the courage to look for your own happiness and live life without regrets? In the end, I gave you a fallacious love that isn’t what you need. It is a love spoken with a love language neither one of us understands. You need something tangible, something close. I gave something distance, something cold. However, despite the obvious disparity in expectations, the love blossomed in ways I would never have thought possible. If oh

I don’t even know what selfish is anymore. Is it to want your love despite knowing I can give nothing back? Is it to disregard it so that I can be free of obligation, guilt? While a part of me wants what is best for you, another part wants what is best for me as well. The mind of a Gemini can be amazingly incoherent at times and needless to say, it handles the affair of love far worse than you can handle the piano. *kidding* I may have an indifferent/ aloof front, but I definitely experience the same ups and downs as you do. Even now, while a part of me wants to give up, another part just wont stop loving. This indecisiveness has caused a lot of confusion and probably everything negative about me as well.

Perhaps being a man isn’t about holding your hand, paying for things, driving a car; rather, it is about knowing when to make hard decisions and standing by them. I guess then there is some truth when I am called a kid. I want to be that infallible man that will not falter when making a choice, but alas, my wants tend to get overwritten by the bias towards taking an easy way out. Holding on to the glimmer of hope, keeping the future ambiguous is perhaps the easiest and most bearable strategy, but one could also say its just a rationalization of an escape as well. What is right? What is wrong? With the level of ambiguity plaguing the relationship, there really is nothing solid that we can hold onto. Maybe I do know how to describe selfishness. Its choosing me over you.

The love still lingers, my heart cries for you, my tears fall for us. I guess only time can tell what will come out of this. Sorry for giving you the promise of bliss and happiness, only to take them away without a moment’s notice. Cry no more, not for a guy who knows not how to love. Cry no more, I do not deserve it.

Today, I was robbed of the color the colour so vibrant, so warm. Today, my only take away was the gloomy inverted smile that was left hanging on a face so pale. so white... To think it is fast becoming a fort nightly affair... Is this all that we are worth, is this it?

I was probably too harsh, but is it wrong that I am straight-forward, that I am frank, that I hide nothing? Perhaps that is merely an ideal that everyone strives to have, but will never work. Perhaps a certain amount of sugar coating, a certain amount of passiveness is the way to go. I have learnt, I will change. In a relationship that lacks physical reassurance, in an intimate interaction based solely on words and words alone, perhaps I should have been more careful in what I say, what I think and what I do... In a relationship where conflict of ideas are inevitable, perhaps before we can move on, we need a way to deal with problems, differences, flaws. If reassurance, if apology doesn't work, then I will try sthg else. I am going to take a passive stand, I will make space even if it means I have to be cold sometimes.

Perhaps in distance can we then see a new clarity that will lead to a closeness like never before.

You know me? You know me not? How much do you know me? Honestly, everything I know about myself, you should have heard about it. In fact, if you figured out a thing or two about me which I didn't know, I wouldn't be surprised. But thats the thing, I tell you everything about what I know, the rest of the parts that you feel lacking, you need to figure it out yourself. It is not something I can tell you unless im aware and frankly, my level of awareness is probably not high enough if you are having so many question marks.
